SAP Global Trade Services Think Tank: USMCA Revisited

Earlier in 2020 we had a session on United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and SAP Global Trade Services (GTS), focused on planning for USMCA. Now that the trade deal is in place and we have had a month of experience, this is a chance for users to ask questions and raise points related to the use of SAP GTS for USMCA. 

The format for Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. CT will include: 

  • Brief welcome and kickoff from ASUG 

  • Rapid case study led by ASUG member Kevin Riddell from Tremco Inc. 

  • The discussion will focus on: 

  • USMCA allows the use of de minimis with net cost, not just transaction value. SAP GTS compares de minimis only against the selling price. How can we take advantage of this new option? 

  • NAFTA certification of origin had to come from the exporter and worked well with SAP GTS functionality focused on issuing certificates of origin to customers (based on an invoice document). USMCA allows for certification by the producer, with no reference to any specific importer, exporter, or transaction. How can we generate such a certification of origin in SAP GTS? 

  • Will share how the new additional conditions are optional, not required, which was a fear until we could test it: good news! 

  • Any other points or questions members want to raise 

  • Sharing of recent wins or successes, along with resources utilized
