Given the speed of innovation and the rapidly changing business landscape, it’s more important than ever for enterprises to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for process improvement. By identifying and enhancing business processes while filling business capability gaps, companies can unlock considerable advantages that drive growth and revenue.
However, assessing an organization’s workflows and operations, and identifying specific opportunities for change, can be a time-consuming process. Often, when organizations undertake this level of internal self-assessment, it can be completed without benchmarking data, limiting the ability of enterprises to gain insights into how other companies in a specific industry or sector are performing.
To remedy this hurdle, the SAP Global Value Advisory team developed the FLASH Maturity Assessment to help its customers and partners develop business best practices and equip them with vital organizational insights and benchmarking data.
“FLASH identifies the strategic value of business transformation initiatives to create a case for real change,” Nicole Bohorad, Senior Director of Customer Experience Value Advisory at SAP, recently told ASUG.
According to Bohorad, the FLASH assessment—which is free to all SAP customers, partners, and employees—can help users discover company strengths and priorities while showing the value of achieving specific business outcomes.
Requiring only about 15 minutes to complete, the assessment gives customers an idea of what they should focus on when looking at business areas to transform and equip organizations with best practices and recommendations to drive outcomes. Upon completing the assessment, users immediately receive a detailed, individualized report that visualizes business maturity against industry benchmarks. This report also includes industry expertise and thought leadership that can optimize organizations’ business capabilities.
Currently, two different models available:
- FLASH Enterprise – This 15-question assessment gives users a broad look at how their organization is operating end-to-end. Organizations will gain insights into how they leverage best practices to achieve innovation across their company. This model is currently available to enterprises in the following industries: retail, consumer products, wholesale distribution, automotive, utilities, telecommunications, and industrial manufacturing. Customers can also request to review their report with an SAP advisor.
- FLASH Focus – Aimed at organizations looking to get insight on one or more lines of business, this model includes working with an expert advisor to assess the business at a deeper level across one or more of 15 topics. To date, FLASH Focus covers the retail industry, with more industries to follow. However, organizations outside of retail can also leverage it to address the following topics: finance, procurement, human resources, technology and AI, and sustainability. In future phases, this model will also include product capability recommendations and financial impact analysis.
While the FLASH assessment gives organizations the insights they need to address business capabilities, another powerful benefit is the best practice learnings that organizations can gain by improving their visibility of hundreds of brands through benchmarking. Currently, FLASH includes over five years of aggregated benchmarking data gathered from over 600 companies. Armed with this information, SAP Global Value Advisory will also deliver industry trends and thought leadership to customers through whitepaper content and at events and webinars.
“The real power of the FLASH tool is that it equips users with the expertise, data, insights, and knowledge to facilitate positive change,” Bohorad said. “This tool can truly help businesses figure out how they can innovate and improve to address specific business demands.”
