As enterprises embrace next-generation SAP technologies, one of the first and most important steps they must take is to assess their business challenges, to more fully understand and determine how their organizations can leverage existing and new solutions in their IT landscapes to make critical process improvements.
The FLASH Maturity Assessment is precisely what makes this possible. Aimed at equipping SAP customers with business process maturity and benchmarking data, and at identifying organizational strengths and opportunities for growth, FLASH enables enterprises to build a foundation for their strategic roadmap that aligns business needs with SAP solutions to drive innovation and accelerate growth.
After first introducing the assessment tool online in 2024, SAP Global Advisory recently expanded FLASH models, adding 11 new lines of business (LoBs) and assessments focusing on new solutions such as SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC), the software company’s data solution enabling customers to unify SAP and third-party data throughout their organization while providing a sturdy and trustworthy data foundation for business insights and artificial-intelligence applications.
“FLASH was built on six years of benchmarking, analysis, and industry insights for customers, which resulted in a 97% customer satisfaction score for improving their business,” Nicole Bohorad, Senior Director of Global Value Advisory at SAP, told ASUG.
“FLASH has allowed SAP and its partners to build trusted relationships with customers by engaging with them using their language, inputs and feedback,” she added. “We can now help more customers address the challenges they face every day and optimize their processes to deliver on business goals.”
The tool arms customers with vital organizational insights, recommends best practices, and equips users with benchmarking data from 1,700 companies (and counting) in the SAP Value Lifecycle Manager (VLM) database.
Other LoBs now or soon to be offered in the FLASH assessment include:
- Business Transformation Management (BTM)
- Travel & Expense (Concur)
- Human Capital Management (HCM)
- Marketing (Emarsys)
- Customer Experience (CX) AI
- CX Business-to-Customer (B2C)
- CX Business-to-Business (B2B)

Additionally, FLASH assessments are available for specific industries, helping SAP customers understand how other organizations in their field are performing and approaching transformation. The following industries are available:

The tool—which is free to all SAP customers and prospective customers—aims to help enterprises identify and prioritize organizational strengths and opportunities while showing the value of achieving specific business outcomes best practices specific to each industry and LoB.
“FLASH identifies the strategic value of business transformation initiatives to create a case for real change,” Bohorad said.
Requiring less than 30 minutes to complete, the assessment gives customers an idea of what they should focus on when looking at business areas to transform and equips organizations with recommendations to drive desired outcomes. Upon completing the assessment, users immediately receive a detailed, individualized report that visualizes their business maturity against industry and LoB benchmarks. This report also includes industry and LoB best practice expertise, thought leadership and examples to help optimize organizations’ capabilities.
The SAP Global Value Advisory team delivers these industry and LoB trends and thought leadership to customers through content, events, and webinars via its Firestarters Business Community.
“The real power of the FLASH Maturity Assessment is that it equips users with the data, insights, knowledge, and action steps to facilitate positive change,” Bohorad said. “This tool can truly help businesses figure out how they can innovate and improve to meet business demands.”
