SAP recently unveiled new AI-powered capabilities for GROW with SAP, its transformation-as-a-service offering aimed at helping midsize SAP customers adopt and leverage SAP cloud ERP.

During an on-demand webcast, SAP product experts walked attendees through three new AI-imbued capabilities now available in GROW:

  • Improved user experience features leveraging AI
  • Availability of Joule, SAP’s AI copilot
  • Financial Business Insights application for analyzing financial reports

Combining SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, with industry best practices, embedded AI and automation capabilities, as well as access to the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) for integration and extensibility, GROW with SAP is aimed at helping customers embrace next generation technologies to drive increased efficiency across their entire enterprise.

“GROW with SAP is a ready-to-run SaaS ERP with industry best practices, acceleration services, community, and learning to help customers like you adopt cloud ERP with that speed, predictability, and continuous innovation,” said Lauren Husum, Head of Product Management for GROW with SAP.

AI capabilities are built into the solution to deliver tangible results for businesses and their employees, she added. Although innovations in this realm are relatively new, Husum noted the expertise that serves as the foundation of SAP’s AI embrace has been accumulated over decades of continuous learning. “We are using our 50 years of business and process knowledge to deliver AI that drives outcomes for your business and your people,” she said.

SAP’s approach to AI is rooted in principles of “relevance, reliability, and responsibility,” the experts emphasized. By seamlessly embedding AI into enterprise applications and business technology solutions, SAP is focused on equipping customers with impactful AI relevant to their day-to-day work.

Given that SAP’s AI is trained with business data spanning industries including finance, supply chain, and human resources, the solution is more dependable than other, not process-specific business AI technologies. “Our AI is reliable because it leverages algorithms that are trained on massive amounts of data through our incredible customer base and years of process optimization experience,” Husum said.

Furthermore, SAP is steadfast in its commitment to responsible AI that adheres to the most stringent security, privacy, compliance, and ethics standards. Enterprises can leverage these capabilities, knowing their most sensitive data and processes are consistently safeguarded, according to the SAP representatives.

Joule: The AI Copilot Revolutionizing Business Interactions

During the webinar, Joule, SAP’s AI copilot that simplifies everyday tasks across the entire SAP ecosystem, took center stage.

Sarah Rudi, Senior Product Manager at SAP, introduced Joule as “the copilot that understands your business and revolutionizes how you interact with your SAP business system.”

Joule’s capabilities span navigational, transactional, and informational tasks, empowering users to navigate to the most relevant applications, retrieve business object insights, and access “crisp and fast” summarized help portal documentation. In tandem with SAP Build’s low-code, no-code capabilities, this AI-powered support enables users to streamline their workflows and develop custom applications with ease.

Joule is already proving impactful in real-world scenarios. Agilita, a Germany-based IT services and consulting company that participated in SAP’s early adopter care program, is testing Joule in its own SAP S/4HANA Cloud environment.

Thomas Neuhaus, Head of Digital Experience at Agilita, shared his experience. “Joule is helping us make searches and onboard the employees onto GROW with SAP faster,” he said. “Joule has improved how we use our existing SAP product portfolio.”

Neuhaus highlighted the key benefits of Joule, which include enhanced user education, streamlined system interaction, and substantial time savings.

Beyond Joule: AI-Enabled UX Features and Business Insights

The webinar also delved into other AI-powered capabilities that can enhance efficiency and decision-making within S/4HANA.

Chris Hoffman, Product Manager of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition, demonstrated how features such as natural language filtering and smart summarization can dramatically improve the ease and intuitiveness of working with SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

“GROW with SAP’s new sub-business AI-assisted filter allows users to access insights into your business in seconds and do follow-up activities recommended to you by the AI-generated smart summarization,” he explained, following his demonstration of these tools in action.

Meanwhile, a new AI-assisted capability, Financial Business Insights, is now integrated into the Cost Center Review Booklet app and its generative AI side panel.

“With our new business insights feature, financial professionals will be able to perform multiple quick actions to streamline reporting tasks,” said Carsten Tannhaeuser, Product Manager of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition. He added that generative AI enables customers to gain important insights on their financial data.

As SAP continues to advance its solutions’ AI capabilities, the software company’s overarching aims and vision remain consistent.

“We want to make sure the benefits of AI are easily adopted and provide a positive impact across your entire business,” said Husum. “Our vision is to elevate ERP to a new level of autonomy, helping to accelerate business processes and deliver data-driven insights and recommendations to help you make faster and safer decisions.”
